13 years of teaching elementary kids to think for themselves.
25 years of doing sidequests and unlocking trophies.

Background

Teaching high school ELA in an urban school taught me how to make Shakespeare culturally relevant. Providing one-on-one behavior intervention for violent special needs kids taught me about learning through play. Pushing struggling Kindergardeners to overcome learning gaps taught me to deconstruct even the basics. Instructing a mixed class of 2nd and 3rd graders taught me how to differentiate instruction based on individual learning needs. And now, teaching post-pandemic 5th graders obsessed with Fortnite has taught me how to keep shorter and shorter attention spans engaged in the classroom.

Goals

I’m ready to take everything I’ve learned in the classroom and beyond to influence education at scale. My expertise in research-based curriculum design is matched only by my ability to make even the most withdrawn kid fist pump about their test score. Doing that for kids across the country would be a dream.
